What is Domestic Violence Counseling

It’s not about punishment—it’s about insight, safety, and change.

Our domestic violence counseling program provides a supportive, structured space to explore harmful patterns, understand root causes, and build safer, more respectful ways of relating. Whether you’ve been accused of causing harm or are working through your own history of abuse, this is a place for honest reflection, education, and transformation.

We help clients navigate:

  • Physical, emotional, or verbal conflict in relationships

  • Court, probation, or DHS requirements

  • Parenting and custody issues connected to domestic violence

  • Patterns of control, reactivity, or emotional dysregulation

  • The aftermath of trauma and systemic harm

More than coping—we help you build resilience.

Change starts with accountability—but it doesn’t stop there. We’ll help you rebuild from the inside out. You are not defined by your worst moment. With the right support, you can take responsibility, rebuild trust, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Our program is comprehensive, court-compliant, and centered on long-term change.

The process includes:

  1. Domestic Violence Evaluation – A clinical interview and risk assessment to determine treatment needs.
  2. Treatment Planning – A court-approved, individualized plan based on DVOMB standards.
  3. Weekly Group Sessions – 90-minute groups covering emotional regulation, conflict resolution, relationship skills, and accountability.
  4. Individual Therapy (if indicated) – For deeper exploration or supplemental support.
  5. Ongoing Reporting – Progress updates, documentation, and collaboration with your legal team.

We use trauma-informed methods like:

  • CARE Method – Client Accountability, Reflection, and Empathy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Psychoeducation on emotional processing, communication, parenting, and conflict

At Vivus Counseling, we blend clinical integrity with compassion to guide individuals through meaningful change. Our DVOMB-approved program uses the CARE Method—Client Accountability, Reflection, and Empathy—to help clients understand the roots of their behavior, build emotional regulation, and develop safer relationship patterns.

We integrate evidence-based practices like CBT, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing, all delivered in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive environment. Every client receives a personalized, legally compliant treatment plan, and we collaborate with courts and multidisciplinary teams to ensure transparency and progress.
